The Purpose of Man

Cain and Abel (Hebrew: הֶבֶל ,קַיִן Qayin, Heḇel) were, according to the Book of Genesis, two sons of Adam and Eve. Cain is described as a crop farmer and his younger brother Abel as a shepherd. Cain was the first human born and Abel was the first human to die. Cain committed the first murder by killing his brother. Interpretations of Genesis 4 by ancient and modern commentators have typically assumed that the motives were jealousy and anger.[1] In the Cain and Abel story found in the Quran, the text refers to them simply as the sons of Adam (Arabic: ابني آدم).
When God favored the sheep offering of Abel over the produce from the ground from Cain, Cain became furious and slayed Abel.

My opinion is that this is symbolic of youth and of old age. When we are young, we are like shepherds who are enthusiastic and wander to faraway land and walk while we take care of the flock. As we get older, its like our circle becomes smaller literally and figuratively. We just tend the fields and plant. A walk around the neighborhood makes your day. Old age plants you down.
Luke 9
13 But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.
Here the Bible talks of fishes and bread which means they are from fishermen and farmers. Which has same essence as that of Cain and Abel story as fishermen goes out to the sea while farmers work for the plants and crops.

Its also symbolic that with old age comes 5 loaves which just means people are supposed to be wiser as they age. And being with more wisdom, you contribute more to the society. The two fishes mean they enjoy traveling while also helping the world. Like a sower you also plant seeds of your own.

So I guess the purpose of man is to have fun, procreate and help other people.
